ニンフ ボディ ２３ｍｍ テール ５ｍｍ ダン ボディ ２２ｍｍ テール １５ｍｍ ニュージーランドで二番目に大きいメイフライ（ちなみに一番は、Icthybotus hudsoniで、モンカゲロウの仲間）。NZにいるカゲロウの中で、ただ一つこの種だけが、ギルを背中側に持っている。川の流れの速いところに棲息しており、泳ぎが得意。ぱっと見た目には、大きさと言い泳ぐスピードと言い、小魚と間違えてしまうほど。 羽化は、１１月から２月にかけて。近くにある石などに攀じ登っての離水羽化をするので、季節になると、流れから突き出た大石で抜け殻をよく見かける。 |

This is the only mayfly species in New Zealand which has gill on the back of abdomen. It inhabits in stony fast moving water and swims quite well. At a glnace, because of its size and speed of swiming, it is easy to mistake as a small fish. It hatches between November and February. It climbs up a rock to hatch and shucks are often found on a rock. |
